Rotating parts of the axle are assessed on our axle test rig. This consists of an input shaft driven by either an engine or electric motor, depending on customer’s requirements, and two industrial gearboxes that feed drive out to dynamometers. The rig can be configures to ensure equal speed at each hub or allow a degree of difference in speeds to stress the differential. Tests can be completed to customers’ specifications or to one of several in-house standards.
Structural integrity of axle beams and casings is assessed in our structural test laboratory where we use electro-hydraulic actuators to run accelerated durability test on all sizes of axle.
